Common Sense Gun Safety

Keeping our communities safe is one of my highest priorities as a public official and as a citizen. As a parent of two young children, I have a persistent fear about where the next shooting will take place, and whether we are doing all we can to protect our kids–and all of us–from preventable harm. I am proud to have received both the Gun Sense Candidate Distinction from Moms Demand Action and the full endorsement of the Gun Violence Prevention PAC. As your state representative, I promise you that I will make common sense gun legislation and gun safety initiatives a priority.

Education

Building opportunity for all begins with providing quality public education from pre-kindergarten through college. It requires offering training for a wide range of career options for children and adults. District 54 has the resources to lead the state in education. As your State Representative, I will focus on strategies which maintain education quality at all levels.

Property Taxes

As your state representative, I will fight to keep taxes in check. As Trustee:

  • I have voted for a zero percent property tax levy increase each year of my tenure, without cuts to the services that our residents have come to expect.

  • Instead, we looked to responsible and innovative fiscal decisions like Arlington Alfresco that allowed us to raise revenues without increasing taxes for residents.

I will bring this disciplined and practical financial approach to Springfield to continue delivering the services residents want–safe streets, good schools, and thriving business districts–while ensuring residents can continue to afford to live in our wonderful communities.
